HEPA Vacuum Rental for Surface Preparation
Capture profile dust from shot blasting, scarifying and diamond grinding before primer goes down — no fisheyes, no rework.
Coatings and flooring crews use HireAVac HEPA units to remove the fine dust layer that kills epoxy and urethane adhesion. A clean profile is the difference between a 10-year coating and a 90-day callback.
Why surface prep dust ruins coatings
ICRI guideline 310.2R defines CSP 1–9 profiles, but none of them matter if dust is left on the substrate. Fine concrete dust acts as a release agent between the slab and your primer — you'll see delamination at edges and fisheyes across the body of the floor. A HEPA vacuum pulled across the profile immediately after grinding lifts the dust without scuffing the CSP.
Shot blasting + HEPA recovery
Steel-shot blasters recover their media magnetically but leave a heavy concrete-fines load behind. A HEPA vacuum sized to the blaster's CFM keeps that fines load out of the air and off the slab so the next pass cuts clean. Our Big Boss unit pairs with most 1-15 and 1-20 blasters.
Vacuum-then-tack-cloth before primer
Industry standard for high-build epoxies is HEPA vacuum followed by a microfiber tack pass. Skipping the vacuum step is the #1 reason for short coating warranties in Houston's humidity. Our 30-minute operator briefing includes the recommended sequence for solvent-based, water-based and polyaspartic systems.
Single source for grinder, vacuum and filters
Many Houston crews already rent the grinder from a national chain but get stuck on dust capture. We deliver the HEPA vacuum, correct-diameter hose, cyclone separator and spare filters as a kit — one delivery, one pickup, no chasing parts.
Frequently asked questions
- Will the vacuum disturb my CSP profile?
- No — HEPA vacuums lift loose particulate via airflow, not abrasion. The shot-blasted or ground profile stays intact.
- What CFM do I need behind a shot blaster?
- 300+ CFM for a 15"–20" blaster; 500+ CFM for ride-on units. Undersized and you'll see fines escaping the blast hood.
