HEPA Vacuum Rental for Concrete Grinding in Houston
HEPA H13 capture rated for OSHA 1910.1053 Table 1 — paired with planetary grinders, edgers and shot blasters for Houston concrete crews.
Polished-concrete and surface-prep contractors across Houston rent HireAVac to keep respirable crystalline silica off the slab and out of operator breathing zones. Our rentals match the CFM and static lift that today's 480V grinders demand, so you maintain visible-dust-free production without throttling your tool.
Why HEPA filtration matters on a grinding job
Concrete grinding generates respirable crystalline silica (RCS) below 4 microns — small enough to pass through standard shop-vac filters and lodge deep in the lungs. OSHA 1910.1053 requires HEPA-filtered dust collection rated to at least 99.97% at 0.3 microns for Table 1 compliance. A true H13 (or H14) cartridge keeps you in the safe harbor and avoids the engineering controls + air monitoring path.
Matching the vacuum to your grinder
A 25" planetary needs roughly 300+ CFM at the shroud, while a 30"+ propane rider can demand 500 CFM with 90"+ static lift. Pair an undersized vacuum to a big grinder and you get visible dust at the tool, plugged shrouds, and operator frustration. Our team sizes the rental against your tool spec — Dirt Eater, Dirt Eater Protector, and Dirt Eater Big Boss cover 8" hand grinders through ride-on shot blasters.
Cyclonic pre-separators extend filter life
Concrete dust loads filters fast. A drop-in cyclone pre-separator captures 90%+ of the dust before it hits the cartridge, letting one filter survive an entire 3-day pour or polish job. We include cyclone separators with most large-unit rentals — ask when booking.
What's included in every Houston rental
Delivery and pickup across Greater Houston, a HEPA H13 filter installed and certified, the correct hose diameter for your tool (1.5", 2" or 3"), a 30-minute operator briefing onsite, and replacement filter bags. We can stage equipment at the job site the evening before so your crew starts at 7 AM without delays.
OSHA Table 1 documentation we provide
Every rental ships with the filter certificate of conformance, the unit data plate photo for your competent-person file, and a written confirmation that the vacuum meets 99.97% @ 0.3 µm. That paperwork lives in your AHA / project safety binder and answers a Compliance Safety and Health Officer's first question.
Frequently asked questions
- Does the HEPA vacuum on its own put me in OSHA Table 1?
- Not by itself. Table 1 requires the listed tool + integrated water delivery or HEPA dust collection at the rated CFM, used as specified. The HEPA vacuum is the dust-collection piece — pair it with the correct shroud, hose, and operator practice and you're in the safe harbor.
- What hose size should I order?
- 1.5" for hand grinders and core drills, 2" for 7"–10" edgers, and 3" for 25"+ planetaries and shot blasters. Going one size too small kills airflow and lets dust escape the shroud.
- Can you deliver same-day in Houston?
- Yes — if equipment is in stock and you call before 10 AM, we deliver same-day inside Loop 610 and most of Greater Houston. Outside that window we deliver next-morning by 7 AM.
- How long does a HEPA filter last on a grinding job?
- With a cyclone pre-separator, a single H13 cartridge typically lasts a full 3–5 day polish project. Without one, expect to swap every shift on heavy grinding.
