Dust application
HEPA Vacuum Rental for Lead Dust
EPA RRP-compatible HEPA capture for lead dust on pre-1978 renovation and abatement projects.
EPA Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) certified renovators and lead-abatement firms use HireAVac to capture lead-bearing dust during demolition, sanding, and final cleaning. Our HEPA units satisfy the 40 CFR §745.85 cleaning verification requirement.
RRP cleaning verification
The RRP rule requires HEPA vacuuming of all surfaces in the work area followed by a wet-wipe cleaning verification. Our vacuums come with the recommended micro-fiber wipe kit for the verification step.
Lead dust particle size
Lead dust from sanding paint is typically 1–10 microns — well within HEPA capture range. The bigger risk is re-aerosolization from non-HEPA shop vacuums, which is why the RRP rule specifically requires HEPA.
Lead abatement vs RRP
Lead abatement is a separate licensed activity in Texas. We rent to both RRP-certified renovators and licensed lead abatement contractors, and provide the documentation appropriate to each.
Frequently asked questions
- Can the HEPA vacuum replace wet wiping?
- No. RRP requires HEPA + wet wipe + HEPA — vacuum, then wipe, then vacuum again.
