Typical project scenario
Residential Drywall Sanding
Drywall · Katy, TX
A residential remodel in The Heights kept the family in the home through the drywall finish phase. HireAVac's compact Dirt Eater Jr ran with a pole sander to keep dust off finished furniture and out of the HVAC.
Challenge
The kitchen and adjacent dining room were under remodel while the family slept in upstairs bedrooms and ate in the living room. The finished hardwood in the dining room had just been refinished — drywall dust would have meant a re-sand. The painter wouldn't start until the room was visibly dust-free.
Solution
A small-frame Dirt Eater Jr HEPA unit paired directly with the finisher's pole sander. End-of-day HEPA pass on floor, baseboards, and HVAC return grille. Plastic on the doorway was used as a backup, not the primary control.
Results
- Cleanup time
- Reduced ~60% vs. dry-sand workflow
- Hardwood re-sand
- Not required
- Family disruption
- Confined to kitchen/dining
- Paint start
- Same-day after finish complete
